Who is Alessia Cara: The Simplistic Style Behind the Voice
19-year-old, singer, Alessia Cara is popularly known for her hit, “Here,” as this song was based on a true story and released May of 2015. This single is from her debut album, “Know-It-All,” which was released November 13th of 2015. Even though she is now signed to EP Entertainment and Def Jam Recordings she originally got her start in 2011 by covering songs and uploading them to YouTube. Cara made the decision to not go to college, taking one year off upon her high school graduation, making her music a priority. As heard in the single, “Here” Alessia’s voice is strong, and sultry. It is no surprise that this song is based on a true story because behind her voice is raw honesty. Her voice sounds so mature, that when most people find out how old she is they are surprised. Alessia Cara is an open-book, she allows her music to speak for her and is a spokesperson for less is best.
Taking a look in Alessia Cara’s wardrobe most of her clothing are jeans, blacks, blues, and or plaid. She knows how to take the grunge look and make it her own. This first ensemble is familiar to many, being the cover of her album, entitled “Know-It-All.” The red and black long plaid shirt and black skinny jeans are casual and take a part in this grunge look. Her jeans have subtle rips and her shoes have a thick sole and small heel. She chooses to jazz up this look with curly hair, a smoky eye, and highlighted cheekbones.
In this next look, Cara’s hair is the center of attention. Her hair is in tight curls, and her makeup consists of a light pink lip, smoky eyes, and winged eyeliner. The glow on her cheeks is highlighted with pink as well. The black buttoned up shirt and faded blue jeans are simple and fun. Alessia’s white Doc Martin’s pair nicely with the black shirt, and blue jean, adding a contrast.
Alessia is giving a cool biker chick in this look, as if she isn’t cool enough! In a skinny blue jean, black tee, and black leather jacket Alessia Cara produces this simplistic combination.
Alessia mixes it up in this shot, first taking a look at the hair. Her hair is in a bob cut, and is colored red and black. In a side-part, and loose curl Alessia Cara looks fierce and does it so effortlessly. In a grey graphic tee, light-blue boyfriend jeans, and black high-top Nike sneakers Alessia owns the “chill look.” Plaid makes an appearance once again, as a black and grey flannel is around her waist. Her makeup is natural.
This white sport dress flatters Alessia’s body and provides her the comfort she needs while performing. The leather black and white jacket gives this sport dress an edge. Alessia’s hair is in her natural curl, and her makeup is a natural look as well. This girl’s got attitude and is not afraid to be herself!
No matter how casual the look is Alessia never struggles to stand out as her voice says everything a listener needs to know about Alessia Cara. Instead of allowing her wardrobe overshadow her, her music is loud and clear. Alessia Cara, maybe young but is “Here,” and is here to stay.
